Gravesham Borough Council delivers a programme of free cultural events for the local community, including the annual Gravesham Light Festival. The outdoor festival transforms locations across Gravesend through spectacular light and fire installations, combining work from established arts organisations with newly commissioned pieces by local artists.
We were commissioned to create a complete package of content that would promote the festival beforehand, capture the event itself and demonstrate its cultural and community impact afterwards.
In the lead-up to the festival, we filmed participating artists developing their work and interviewed them about their ideas and creative processes. This material allowed audiences to meet the artists, discover what was being created and build anticipation ahead of the event.
We then filmed across both days of the festival, capturing the installations, performances, atmosphere and audiences experiencing the work. We also interviewed artists, organisers and other key contributors to explain the thinking behind the festival and why it is important to Gravesend.

Ahead of the event, we produced save-the-date content and a series of short artist spotlight films for social media, helping Gravesham Borough Council raise awareness and encourage attendance.
After the festival, we delivered a fast-turnaround, one-minute highlights film showcasing the excitement and success of the event, alongside a longer documentary exploring the artists, ambitions and wider impact of the festival.
We also produced a collection of high-quality event photography for use across social media, future marketing, reports and other council communications.
The content demonstrated the quality and ambition of the free cultural experiences Gravesham Borough Council provides for local communities. It captured the enjoyment of audiences while showing how the festival makes creativity accessible to families and residents across the borough.
The films also highlighted the council’s investment in local artists, its ability to attract renowned arts organisations and the role cultural events can play in bringing visitors into Gravesend. Together, the content helped present the town as a vibrant place to visit, live and experience the arts.
