The
Brief

Gallagher’s Careers Open Day invites local young people, schools and families to visit Hermitage Quarry, meet its team and discover the wide range of careers available across construction.

The event combines practical activities with careers information and opportunities to speak directly with people working in the industry. More than 250 students from local schools and 100 other visitors attended its first Careers Open Day, taking part in activities including tree planting, building bug hotels, operating machine simulators and receiving apprenticeship advice.

Gallagher wanted a film that would capture the success of the event, demonstrate its impact on the young people attending and showcase the company’s commitment to education and its local community.

The Production

Two of our filmmakers spent the day capturing the complete event, from speeches and careers discussions to practical activities, demonstrations and interviews with the young people taking part.

Drone filming established the scale and dramatic setting of Hermitage Quarry, capturing its machinery, workshop facilities and surrounding landscape from the air. On the ground, we filmed the breadth of activities available and the enthusiasm of the students as they built, created, experimented and learned about different roles within construction.

We also captured contributions from Gallagher staff and local representatives, providing context around the company’s work and the importance of introducing young people to the opportunities available within the sector.

Outcome

We produced a promotional highlights film that brought together the strongest moments from the day and communicated the excitement, scale and educational value of the event.

The film showcased Gallagher’s facilities, the variety of careers within the business and the positive experiences of the young people who attended.

The film demonstrated that Gallagher is far more than a construction and aggregates company. It showed the company opening its facilities to the community, supporting local schools and investing time and resources in the next generation.

By revealing the variety of roles and career paths available, the film helped challenge narrow perceptions of the construction industry and encouraged young people to consider opportunities they may not previously have known existed.

It also strengthened Gallagher’s position as a community-focused employer that cares about education, skills development and the future of its industry.
